The question is simple short and to the point i know some stuff about computers but i don't know about this can someone help|||PCIe 2.0 x16 has a bandwidth of 5.0 GB/s
PCIe 1.x x16 has a bandwidth of 2.5 GB/s.
The 2.0 version also provides more power directly through the slot which can in many cases eliminate the need for cables from the power supply to the card.
2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.x, & as of yet there really aren't any 2.0 cards on the market (besides some very special single slot dual cards) that are able to bottleneck a 1.x slot due to lack of bandwidth.
In simple English ... putting a 2.0 card in a 1.x slot will not compromise its performance (for now).
regards,
Philip T|||yes. you can install it in a PCIe 1 slot and it will work just fine. however, the bandwidth to the card will be cut in half. you probably won't notice any real difference though, compared to if it was in a PCIe 2 slot.|||Yes, its backwards compatible.
