Why won't the drivers for my new pci-express video card work?

I recently purchased a FOXCONN 8400GS-256 GeForce 8400 GS 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card.

When i installed it it took almost 5 min for vista to boot up normally with my old pci card in was 10 sec and then when i went to install the drivers included in the cd it won't work. i went to fox conns website and downloaded all of the vista 32 bit drivers i could find and none of them worked. the nvidia screen came up and said no hardware was found that needed to be installed. i went to nvidia's website and downloaded their drivers and it still didn't work. then i upgraded my chipset drivers from asus becasue when i went to the device manager it lists like 10 differently pci-pci bridge issues.

this is the second pci-e card i have tried without success and similar issues. can anyone help.|||did you uninstall your previous drivers first?.

also check device manager, and under video adapters, right click your card (or whatever happens to be showing) and "remove" it

then boot up..cancel out of the the new hardare found wizard , then run the new drivers .exe|||Not to sound 'smart', but are you absolutely sure that your motherboard is able to accept a PCI-E card?? Especially if you have tried more than one brand of cards...

What kind of computer do you have? Manufacturer and model (i.e. HP 5860, etc)

Is it possible to put a low-profile PCI or PCI-E video card into a HP SlimLine s7727c PC?

I recently bought a Slimline s7727c desktop.. and it has a PCI slot (x16 I think) whereas it seems possible to install a PCI (or PCI-E) low-profile video card. The PSU is a miniscule 108 W. but there are some who claim success installing such a video card.

Of course, the SlimLine is very scaled-down in size as well as the low PSU wattage. Is anyone familuar with this model PC or heard of successful PCI or PCI-E video card installation? There are older SlimLine models that have PCI-E video slot options, but it with this series of model there are more questions than answers. Any advice will be helpful TY|||You will not be able to put a PCI-Express card in your model. You could put a PCI card though.

PCI Express 2.0 x16 motherboard with PCI Express x16 (not 2.0) video card - Are they compatable?

Does the non-2.0 video card work with the 2.0 motherboard?|||actually it is compatible all ways but if you were to put a 2.0 card in an old non 2.0 system their would be a 1-2% gpu slowdown thats it. lol|||2.0 CARDS will only go to 2.0 BOARDS

But X16 CARDS will go into 2.0 and X16 BOARDS|||in short, Yes.. But i would stay away from MSI.. ive had bad luck, if u havnt bought it yet, go with jetway or gigabyte.

Will a PCI Express 2.0 video card work for a PCI Express x16 slot?

I am looking at the Dell Studio Desktop in this link. http://www.dell.com/content/products/fea… it is the one that is 799. I was wondering if a PCI Express 2.0 video card would work on this desktop|||Yes. PCI-Express 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.0 (at the 1.0 speed)

Can a ddr3 video card work on a ddr2 motherboard that has a pci-e 2.0 x16?

I want to buy a new video card and i notice that ddr2 video cards are a little slow.|||Sure it will, why not|||SMH

Will people never learn? Will people never use their brains?|||The DDR2 motherboard means it supports DDR2 RAM,

You will be connecting a GPU card through PCIe x16 slot.

If you have the slot on your motherboard then

yes your card can work.

I have a computer with a PCI 2.0 x16 video card slot. Does PCI 2.1 work too?

I am planning to get a new video card, mine is pretty much shot. Planning on getting a:

Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

Will it work in a MOBO with PCI 2.0x16? or do i need to get a new MOBO?|||You're fine! All versions of PCI-E x16 are backawards compatible, so it even works fine on a motherboard with a 1.1 slot.

There's no speed difference between PCI-E x16 version 2.1 and 2.0 anyway... Version 2.1 just added some diagnostic and management features that won't be fully implemented until version 3.0 anyway.|||Yes...the 2.1 is backwards compatible with 2.0 or even 1.1 slots. you can use it...just make sure you have enough of a PSU to run it.

Will a low profile video card fit in a regular PCI Express x16 slot?

Most video cards are too big for my case, so I want to know if I can fit a low profile video card in a regular PCI Express x16 slot|||Yes but you need to have the appropriate size backplate to fit your case.
