My computer says it has a PCI express x16 - can this slot work with a PCI express 2.0 video card?

what is the difference between PCI-e 2.0 x16 and PCI-e x16 (without the 2.0 desingation)?

i have a roughly 4-5 yr old IBM thinkcentre m51 pc and want to select the correct pci -e card. i notice that newegg has to separate search categories for pci-e 2.0 x16 and pci-e x16.|||PCI-e 2.0 has roughly double the bandwidth of 1.0. PCI-e 2.0 graphics cards are designed to be PCI-e1.0 compatible (same slot, lower capabilities). In my experience the difference is barely noticeable however with intensive games, at high-res it's more marked. Go for a PCI-e 2.0 card as these are the newest cards with the latest GPUs, and will enable you to get best performance out of your rig.|||4 to 5 years ago, PCI-E was first being introduced. So your computer will have PCI-E 1.0.

It will work but not at its fastest capable speeds.

Dont go spending too much on a graphics card if you're only going to get half the performance.|||yes it will work... pci express 16 is the same as 2.0... there nah differences.. it just improve the design of video card. but it iwll work on ur motherboard... But just be sure your ram is high enough
