Can PCI Express 2.0 x16 video card work on PCI Express x16 slot?

I am considering the purchase of a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… video card, but the card is a PCI-E 2.0 x16 card, while my motherboard has a slot only for PCI E x16, will I be able to do this? What are the drawbacks, should I just buy a PCI 1.0 card instead?|||Yes it will work, drawbacks are that it will only function at 1.0 speeds.
