Will a pci express x16 card work in PCI Express 2.0 x16?

I have a 7900 gs ko and i want to buy a new motherboard. I am looking at the evga 780i sli atx, now will my video card work in the PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots??|||Yes it will. A motherboard with a PCI-E 2.0 slot will take a PCI-E 1.0 or 1.1 video card. The difference between the two is the transmit rate, the 2.0 can transmit 16 GByte/s in each direction where 1.1 can only do half that. Your card will not speed up, but the slot will demote itself to 1.1 speeds.

Hope that helps.|||well i was asking something like this not long ago but im pretty sure it will because the big companys like evga no its stupid to make a motherboard like that and it will only surpport pcie 2.0 cards nothing else. i would think it will work but dont take my answer 100%........ but ino what the biggest wastes of money in the history of computers are if any1 would like to know ask me and ill tell you.........|||no
