Is the GeForce 8600 GT 512MB PCI-E x16 Video Card graphic card good for really good graphics?

i have a sony vaio that has a geforce 5200 video card and i want a new one to play new games with good graphics is this card good enough or do the new games need a better one? but i dont want ne of ur answer to tell me about a ****** $1000 graphic card thats better i want something thats about $200 the geforce 8600 is bout $160 so just lemme no if its good enuff for a game like war in conflict to play with really good graphics (i dont want it to work at minimum graphics)|||Which card EXACTLY are you looking at? (are you in the US?) An 8600GTS might be $160, the GT should be much closer to $100.

At the moment, their is a new sub $200 king in town, and his name is the 3850. Newegg has them in stock for ~$185 including shipping. This is the best card less then $200 will get you. They perform very similar to the x1950XT, which you can barely find anymore. Two of these in CF will cost <$400, but in some situations can come close to the 8800GTX, which costs around $500. If you live in the US, and have $200 to spend, this is the card to get.

Here are some links to back up the claims.

8800GTX. This card is $462, AFTER a $75 mail in rebate.

Here is the world in conflict part of the review. Notice how much better the 3850 is compared to the 8600GT. The 8600GT isn't even close.|||Sure if you have the power to support it why not and the monitor with a good response time to get the full quality of the graphic card.|||well it depends. if your running vista on dx10 get the 8600. but i would recommend a 8800gt(u can find it for 250)

but if thats out of your price range and your running xp i would get a 7900 or 7950 nivida card they will run better then the 8600 and cost about the same
