Will a PCI express 2.0 video card work in other PCI slots?

I only have regular PCI slots, PCI express x1 and PCI x16 slot in my computer and I was wondering if a PCI express 2.0 video card would work in my computer. Thank you!|||Hi,

Yes it will work but only as well as a PCI-e version1 but I don't believe the difference is that great.

The version 2 is backwardly compatible with the earlier version.

Arnak|||Yes it will. A PCI Express 2.0 x16 card will work in a PCI Express x16 slot. The 2.0 specification allows it to be backward compatible with a standard (1.0) x16 slot.

" Upgraded in 2007, PCI Express 2.0 doubled the data transfer rate over its predecessor for a transfer rate of up to 16 gigabytes per second (x16 PCIe channel). Providing backwards compatibility with version 1.0, PCI Express 2.0 provides:

PCI software compatibility

Scalable performance

High-bandwidth, low pin-count implementations

Cost effective silicon component designs

Low overhead, low latency data transfers

Maximized interconnect efficiency "

it will just run at regular pci 1.0 speeds

if i were you i would post another question asking if that specific video card has backwards compatibility to 1.0

hope i helped

:-)|||no, but if your card has backward support the it may be.
