I've heard that in PCI-Express 1.1 and 1.0 (?) slots that it was okay, but I heard it wasn't okay with PCI-Express 1.0a|||There are a few known compatibility issues, but in general it will work. The two most common issues are with slots that are internally wired as x4 and with graphics cards that draw more power from the PCIe slot than 1.0a motherboards are required to be able to supply.
Update: I understood that you mean x16 slots. Not all x16 slots are internally wired as x16.|||Nope. Different size connectors. You're trying to fit a big plug into a little hole basically, and it just wont fit.
