PCIE x16 mobo compatible with PCIE 2.0 video card?

I've googled this issue a bit and got different answers. Will a Gigabyte M68M-S2P motherboard with a specified PCI Express x16 video slot be compatible with a GTX550 Ti 1 GB GDDR5 video card with a PCI Express 2.0 slot without performance loss?|||@ braincruser

You don't know a lot about how to talk to people, do you?

Do you feel more knowledgeable and/or powerful having put someone else down?

You are nothing special.

To the asker: Yes, your GPU will work fine with that mobo. There will be no loss in performance.

I have two 6970's hooked up to my x16, which splits into dual x8, and there is still no performance loss. You are more than fine.|||Your board has the PCIe x16 slot . Though an older board it still works. the 1.1, 2.0, 2.1 only refer to the transfer attainable rate which for the most part does not effect the performance of the card so your 550Ti will work fine. Of course you need enough ram and a good CPU to keep up with the cards ability and of course a PSU with 6 pin connector capable of driving it.|||you dont know a lot about computers do you?

pciexpress x16 means the slot is 16 lanes wide.

pci express 2.0 means the slot is of type 2.0

to put them together

PCIE x16 2.0 thats the slot that motherboard have and the graphic card uses....the same one.
