Can i put a pci express 2.0 x16 in a pci express x16 slot?

I am planning on getting a new computer, and it has a pci express x16 slot, but i don't know if they are backwards compatible from the video card to the slot, or from the slot to the card...anyone know about this?|||nope, for one thing, it would be backwards, some pci express 2.0 have backwards compatability with pci express, but it won't work the other way around|||All future PCI-E x16's will be backwards compatible with the old x16 1.0 but you won't be getting the full bang for your buck.
