Would a PCI-E 2.0 card work in a PCI-E x16 slot?

I'm thinking of exchanging a video card (PCI-E x16) with a PCI-E 2.0 x16 card, but here's the thing. My motherboard's PCI-E slot is only 1.0 (x16). Would the new video card work?|||Yes, it will work.

PCI-E 2.0 is designed to be backwards-compatible with PCI-E x16. This means that a video card that is designed for PCI-E 2.0 can also work in a PCI-E x16 slot. Also, a card that is designed to work in a PCI-E x16 slot can also work in a PCI-E 2.0 slot.

I hope this helps!
