How do i switch my video card between my pci-e slots?

my mobo got two pci-e x16 slots and i want to switch my video card to the other slot. i tried switching but my monitor didnt display anything. what do i need to do so i can switch?|||Check in the BIOS, and see if the second slot isn't enabled.
