Will my video card be compatible with my motherboard?

I am ordering a ASUS M4A87TD EVO AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard and was wondering if it is compatible with a XFX HD-685X-ZNDC Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity. If it is not leave another suggestion below please...|||As long as you buy a motherboard with at least one PCI Express slot, it'll be compatible.

Any desktop motherboard made in the past 6 or 7 years will have a PCI express slot. If you want to fully utilize your graphics card you'll want a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot. Any motherboard made in the past three years will have a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot.

So any modern motherboard is 100% compatible with that video card (and any video card available today).

So, to answer your question. Yes. That motherboard is 100% compatible with that video card.

There are much more important question you should ask... can your power supply handle the video card? Also, is your case big enough to physically accommodate your video card?

Make sure you have a power supply capable of outputting 450 watts (minimum of 400 watts). Also make sure it has the proper PCI Express power cable as well. In this case, you need a power supply with a 6-pin PCI Express power connector.

In summary:

* Yes, that motherboard is compatible with that video card.

* Make sure your power supply outputs a minimum of 400 watts. I'd go with at least 500 watts, just to give some head room. IF you power supply outputs less than 400 watts, buy a new one. Not having enough power for your video card can destroy your video card over time.

* Make sure your power supply has at least one 6-pin PCI Express power connector. If not you'll need a 4-pin molex to 6-pin PCI Express adapter, which should come with the card.

* Make sure your case is deep enough for the card. Since you're ordering an ATX sized motherboard, I'm assuming you have an ATX sized case. So, you need not worry about the card fitting.|||every newer video card out today is compatible with pci-e2.0 x16 and everything is backwards compatible with that expect AGP|||It'll work fine.
