Can I run this video card on PCI Express 1.0 x16?

Can I run GeForce 260 on PCI express X16 because i know i can run a GeForce 9800 GTX+ because they are backward compatible just i don't want to go over the bandwidth which is 8gb/s PCI Express 2.0 runs 16Gb/s so i am stumped or should i just get a GeForce 8800 Ultra. My Motherboard is a nForce 680i p6n Diamond by MSI. |||yes.
