My old card is an nVidia 7300 GS and I was hoping to replace it with an EVGA 550 GTX Ti card. Will this be compatible with my motherboard which only supports PCI-Express x16?
I've read that it is backwards compatible though...|||Yes. PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.0 cards. If you install a PCI-E 1.0 card (like your 7300 GS) in a PCI-E 2.0 slot, it will still run at the bandwidth of PCI-E 1.0. They are physically the same slot, just different bandwidths. No incompatibility issues at all.|||Every PCI-Express video card works in every motherboard with a PCI-Express x16 slot.|||It will work because the x16 slot is larger and the x2 slot is smaller. so just line it up as normal and fire it up.
